From Scan to BIM: Digital Foundation Set for the Circular Building Convert Project

🚀 Last September, the pilot site in Lille, located at 75-77 Rue Gambetta, was scanned by teams from RPTU University, a partner in the Circular Building Convert project. This scan enables the modelling of building information, a process that involves the creation and management of digital representations of the physical and functional characteristics of the premises.

BIM models are used by architects, engineers and construction professionals to improve collaboration and efficiency in construction projects.

As part of the CBC project, the BIM model enables:

  • An accurate representation of the existing building ;
  • Better coordination between stakeholders ;
  • More effective planning of circular renovation strategies ;
  • Data-driven decision-making throughout the project lifecycle ;
  • The BIM model of the pilot sites will enable us to identify reusable materials.

A big thank you to the team who participated in capturing and processing the scanning data. This is an essential step in supporting circularity, adaptive reuse and sustainable transformation in the built environment.
